How the classification works
Each word is checked against three things: a curated list of common Germanic and Latinate words; a set of suffix and prefix markers (e.g. -tion, -ity, -ate → Latinate; -ness, -hood, -ing → Germanic); and an orthographic fallback (length, vowel patterns).
The classifier is a heuristic, not a dictionary. It will sometimes mis-paint. But on most prose, the seam between the two languages is plainly visible — a thing English speakers usually feel without seeing.
Bold words are high-confidence calls; thin colour means weaker signal.
